Island Goodbyes and Northern Lights

At Chesterman Beach in Tofino, we felt the pull of the ocean. “Sea life. Beautiful shells. Sea glass. Sand and surf. Just magical.” The next morning brought us to Wally Creek for a waterfall—a beautiful way to start the day.

After exploring so many cute towns and beautiful beaches across Vancouver Island, we felt very blessed to have been able to visit and explore. Then it was time to say goodbye. We drove toward Whistler for the train wreck hike and spotted a whale along the way.

Passing through Clinton hit different. The forest fires were devastating, and our hearts went out to everyone there. But then we found ourselves parked by a beautiful blue-green lake, and when Hixon came around, the stars came out. Then the northern lights showed up. Just wow.

We drove through Prince George and walked in the forest. We found a tree carving. We popped by The Speckled Sow in Vanderhoof to meet Brittany. “Omgoodness this steak was heavenly ty Brittany!!!” We drove up into the mountains near Smithers, caught the Saturday market, saw totem poles in Kispiox, and rolled into Prince Rupert on the Pacific coast.
