Wolf Lake Warm-Up
June 6 to June 22, 2026 · Wolf Lake, Buckhorn Lake, Bobcaygeon, Blind River, Marathon

We grabbed amazing chicken at thefry_canada one afternoon—the portions were huge, the service was wonderful, and the food was amazing. Six days later, at 5:19 AM, we were off for a Wolf Lake weekend warm-up before our BC trip. Our battery was at 81% and Starlink was working fast. We hit the road with coffee and the sunrise was beautiful.
The drive through the woods was amazing. We saw snapping turtles crossing the path and listened to owls once we settled into the quiet forest. Waking up in the van just hits different. By morning, the house battery had dropped to 6%, but our power station held steady at 85%—enough to keep the fridge cold and Starlink running while we brushed our teeth at the tailgate sink and got ready for the day.
We kept the Blue Meanie in bed-mode that day, just resting before heading to a friend’s place. Then we pulled fresh espresso in the forest before taking the van over the rocks at Wolf Lake. “Two glass bottles of fish sauce fighting for their lives in the back” tested our van organization like nothing else. By June 19, we were ready to go.
Buckhorn Lake came first on Day 1, then Bobcaygeon and Screaming Heads at Midlothian Castle on Day 2. We drove through Blind River and encountered bugs at Spragge. The Agawa Pictographs came next, then White River, and finally Marathon with its pebble beaches and Lake Superior stretching out in front of us.
